HisAbilities Ministry offers programming for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. We are passionate about teaching the Bible to children and adults in a variety of settings. We believe that those born with, or those who acquire, a disability have an extraordinary aptitude for understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray about visiting of our classes.
Our middle school programming reflects the typical programming for MS students at West Park. HisAbilities programming is adamant about schedules, routines and reward systems. Some or all of these strategies will be implemented in programming for your student. Please be sure to communicate freely with the HisAbilities staff and volunteers about which strategies do and do not work for your students.
9:30am Axis in the Hub (Large Group)
Our middle schoolers meet in the Hub with their peers for large group. Our point person volunteer is Debi Smith. Debi and a group of middle and high school students volunteer to make sure that our MS students with disabilities are able to participate in the typical programming as smoothly as possible. Debi and the HisAbilities staff collaborate to discuss strategies and incentives appropriate for each student.
Please note that the HUB has a cafe that is open to the MS students. If your student has dietary restrictions, please be sure to communicate this to their teacher.
11:00am – Our MS students have the option to attend corporate worship with their parents for the 11:00am hour or the STAR class in room 301.
